5.75 (average) This felt like a more kiddy version of .hack//. Primarily watched it to see where the overall project was going and how the story was getting flushed out overall.

6.75 (above average) This felt too short to really flush out the entire story. It is alright for what it is.

6.75 (above average) An interesting facet to the .hack// universe, but nothing that makes me ooo and awww.

8.50 (very good) This felt like such a different anime from others I had seen up to that point. To actually "be" in the virtual game world seemed so exciting and fun... what could possibly go wrong? Getting trapped in the world and not being able to wake up is quite a serious ordeal.

SAO takes this same idea and expands on it a bit.

8.25 (good) Really love this manga for the recipes and interesting story development that the main character goes through. It takes quite a lot of devotion to keep searching for your father for so many years.

8.00 (good) This was an alright samurai show. In certain parts of the story, it felt incomplete and/or rushed.

6.50 (above average) Ecchi martial arts manga that has some humorous historical and cultural references. It would be nice if they further developed Joukyuu's blocks on why he can't use his martial arts to the full extent. It's just mentioned sporadically and when he is able to use higher levels it feels like a 'wow' factor is supposed to appear. :/

Akira

Last Updated: Mar 09, 2014

9.25 (very good) Ironically, I accidentally saw part of this (Kaneda on his bike and racing on the street/highway) when I was 6 years old or so... but could not remember what it was for a lot of years. Finally when it came out on DVD, there was Kaneda on his bike covering the DVD case. It was like bridging a gap. This has so much depth to it and interesting technology at certain points. Purely a classic.

Appleseed

Seen: completely; Own: completely;

Last Updated: Oct 20, 2013

7.50 (good) Appleseed seemed like such a different and thought inspiring film for the time it was made. The peaceful society with everything "ok" has been done before, but this movie made it feel so different, so unique (as if it had not been attempted before). It really is something when artists can approach a genre and type of movie that has been made before and make it in such a way that it feels completely unique.

Aquarian Age

Seen: completely; Own: completely;

Last Updated: Nov 08, 2013

5.00 (moderate) Been quite a few years since I watched this... probably because I wasn't overly thrilled with it. The issue revolving around the main character seems kind of odd. Why hide something so minor as if it is something very grand and dangerous? Seemed rather stupid and childish of the governing authority to act that way.

Are You Alice

Seen: partially

Last Updated: Oct 22, 2013

7.00 (above average) A very different take on the Alice in Wonderland story. Some characters feel a bit awkward or annoying at times, but the overall story and other side characters make up for it.

Armitage III

Seen: completely; Own: completely;

Last Updated: Oct 20, 2013

7.00 (above average) Armitage III: Dual Matrix was a cool, refreshing and fun anime to watch. Naomi Armitage is like the Lara Croft of anime. =b (boooo... tomb raider)

Basilisk

Seen: completely; Own: completely;

Last Updated: Dec 14, 2013

8.00 (good) Read the manga and watched the series of Basilisk. Prefer the manga over the series by far, though it was nice to see some aspects of the manga in full (such as fight scenes).

Bastard!!

Last Updated: Mar 26, 2014

8.25 (good) This is a fun manga and anime. All of the music references and humor while telling an action/fantasy story get you laughing and thinking. : ) Would really like for the remainder of the manga to be translated to English. :(

Billionaire Girl

Seen: completely

Last Updated: May 25, 2014

7.50 (good) This manga presents a unique look at how someone of a younger age can become incredibly rich. Due to the amount of money that the main character has, they are not accustomed to interacting with society and feel rather scared at doing so. Someone comes along to help them with this through a relative. It is a sweet and blossoming story as the two main characters start to understand each other more and learn things of each other.

8.25 (good) Really enjoyed this anime. Look forward to seeing it again.

Boogiepop Phantom

Seen: completely; Own: completely;

Last Updated: Oct 20, 2013

8.50 (very good) This series in a lot of ways felt like a slightly different version of Serial Experiments Lain, which isn't a bad thing. Boogiepop is presented sparingly, but at key moments in the series. Would like to read the manga behind it at some point.

Bubblegum Crisis

Last Updated: Oct 20, 2013

8.00 (good) Bubblegum Crisis: Tokyo 2040
Remember watching this and those suits were fantastic. Nene is too cute. : ) Would have loved to be their mechanic and have them try the mech suits on. ...also wondered why there were no guys using the suits. :/

Candidate for Goddess

Seen: completely; Own: completely;

Last Updated: Mar 26, 2014

8.50 (very good) This series only spanned four episodes before it was canceled/dropped. The story follows four young boys and their attempt to become pilots for mecha that are called "Goddess".

Comic Party

Seen: completely; Own: completely;

Last Updated: Jun 08, 2014

8.50 (very good) This is an anime that surprises and delivers. It provides an interesting look into creating dojinshi and how to present it at Comiket. (hope to perhaps someday go to it) A lot of wild and zany things happen along the way, which is all in good fun and everyone is kept in check (so to speak). An enjoyable watch for a night in with someone who may not be as familiar with anime.

Cowboy Bebop

Seen: completely

Last Updated: Nov 08, 2013

8.75 (very good) This is a series that you can watch again and again. Each sub-story/session has it's own kind of charm to it. More character history for Jett, Faye, and Spike would be nice, but there is enough in the anime to move it along.

Cromartie High School

Seen: partially

Last Updated: Mar 26, 2014

6.00 (average) This was funny when it started, then it just became stupid after a while (and most students are portrayed as complete idiots, so that doesn't help). The same jokes and stunts over and over again.

D Gray-Man

Seen: completely; Own: completely;

Last Updated: Jun 08, 2014

8.25 (good) General Cross Marian, General Froi Tiedoll, General Klaud Nine, Yu Kanda, and Tyki Mikk are the really interesting characters in this story for me. Still reading through it and intrigued on how it will develop.

Daphne in the Brilliant Blue

Seen: completely

Last Updated: Dec 21, 2013

7.50 (good) The story was ok, but not great. The main character's back story felt more of like a "oh, here you go" at the end and seemed rather contrived/silly.

Dark Air

Seen: completely

Last Updated: Dec 20, 2013

9.00 (very good) Dark Air is an intriguing music-filled ride through a fantasy magic world. All sorts of characters spring up, which include: Ability enhancing musicians (guitar, viola and flute), Mages, Thieves, Singers and much more! The music references that are spread throughout bear a resemblance to Bastard!! (another manga that uses music band and artist references) This series was canceled and the full potential has not been witnessed; however, there is a lot of room for growth and the series has a solid foundation.

Dead Leaves

Seen: completely

Last Updated: Mar 09, 2014

8.25 (good) This was a rather weird and "off the beaten path" kind of anime. It has a similar feel to FLCL.

Death Note

Seen: completely; Own: completely;

Last Updated: Mar 26, 2014

8.25 (good) A very unique twist and presentation to the shinigami and righteous hero characters. The series feels like it falls off after a particular character dies and it just limps along until it crosses the finish line.

Dirty Pair

Seen: completely; Own: completely;

Last Updated: Nov 08, 2013

6.50 (above average) A basic action anime with two women touring the galaxy and arresting people. Both seem to be rather clueless at times and have a disregard for how much damage they cause in trying to capture their targets. A decent watch for a night with not much going on.

Dragon Ball

Seen: completely

Last Updated: Mar 09, 2014

7.75 (good) Watched this after having seen Dragon Ball Z (wanted to see the history of the characters, as opposed to hearing references once in a great while in the Z anime). This was much more fascinating and fun to watch. The characters, enemies, and dangers are on a more realistic level. Krillin is able to contribute to the team throughout the whole series. Seeing more of Korin and the Master Roshi was nice too (they actually fight and teach in this).

Eureka 7

Seen: partially; Own: completely;

Last Updated: Dec 08, 2014

7.00 (above average) From the half to three quarters of the first season that I've seen, this is a solid anime. It kind of feels like a surf/pirate version of NGE, so not really unique though it has strong characters and development.

Excel Saga

Seen: completely; Own: partially;

Last Updated: Dec 27, 2013

7.00 (above average) From what I have seen of this, it is a really funny anime. The voices change half way through the series, so that kind of ruins it. The whole evil overlord trying to take over the world and using Excel to accomplish it is rather humorous. All in all, a good night of watching anime and having a few laughs.

Fairy Tail

Seen: partially

Last Updated: Dec 08, 2014

6.50 (above average) This manga has a generic hero who never really loses and seems to always get more power right when he needs it. The really interesting aspects are the side characters that we don't see as much of. Fairy Tail comes across as too one dimensional to enjoy more than at a passing.

Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children

Seen: completely

Last Updated: Dec 16, 2013

7.00 (above average) This was a good movie for Final Fantasy VII; however, it was much too short. Flushing out more of what happened between the end of the game and the start of the movie could have helped it out a lot. The movie producers and directors leave too much up to the viewer to interpret from the little information that is provided. The Final Fantasy franchise could benefit from more movies and manga.

Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within

Seen: completely

Last Updated: Dec 21, 2013

8.00 (good) The movie felt like such a departure from the Final Fantasy world I knew that if Final Fantasy wasn't in the title, then I wouldn't have associated it with the franchise. Despite this, the movie was thoroughly entertaining and pulled you into the story. It felt more human than the Final Fantasy games I had played.

9.25 (very good) This is just a fun series to watch for comedy and... those eyebrows. O.o

lol, what nonsense and mayhem transpires in this... could only be Furi Kuri

The music is also fantastic. Pillows \m/

Flying Witch

Seen: completely

Last Updated: Dec 21, 2013

8.50 (very good) A light-hearted and funny comedy manga about a girl learning to become a witch. An entertaining read for those who like fantasy mixed with everyday living.

Full Metal Panic!

Seen: completely

Last Updated: Oct 20, 2013

7.00 (above average) Full Metal Panic! and Full Metal Panic! Fumoffu are both military-based animes. Fumoffu is more comedy/light humor and can have you laughing a lot. Sagara leading runs while chanting "Fumo Fumo Fumo Fu" in the costume is hilarious. : )

Fullmetal Alchemist

Seen: completely; Own: completely;

Last Updated: Mar 26, 2014

8.25 (good) For the most part, alchemy is presented as a limited-type of craft. It is very precise and much is still unknown. The idea of automail is interesting as an advancement on artificial limbs. Izumi Curtis is a rather amusing and tragic character.

Gankutsuou

Seen: completely; Own: partially;

Last Updated: Oct 20, 2013

8.00 (good) Unique portrayal of the "Count of Monte Cristo" story. The patterns used on the characters feels flat at times (as they don't bend or move with clothes), but the colors and styles are engaging nonetheless. There are moments where you think... "Albert, why don't you see the truth in what is going on?" You really feel hope for the Count and that he may turn around in the end. In some ways, he does... he leaves assets to people and gives a few characters more time to speak than he otherwise would have. Recommend this series.

Gasaraki

Seen: completely; Own: completely;

Last Updated: Oct 20, 2013

7.50 (good) Gasaraki feels like a more organic (and in some ways cultural/historical) piece than the ever popular Gundam series that were out around this time.

Ghost in the Shell

Seen: completely; Own: completely;

Last Updated: Oct 20, 2013

9.00 (very good) Innovating and game changing is how this felt when I first saw the movie. Some years later, Stand Alone Complex would come out and continue the storytelling of these characters and universe. The movie isn't quite like the series that are out, but the series can also further develop aspects that the movie cannot.

GIRLS und PANZER

Seen: partially

Last Updated: Apr 14, 2014

5.00 (moderate) The purpose of fighting in a panzer, to develop polite grace, dignified femininity, and learn what it means to be a woman, seems incredibly contrived and unjustified. It just plays out like a load of propaganda. The purpose of taking panzerfahren as a "required" elective could have been better founded and flushed out.
